In order for the state to transfer the money obtained after the sale of the 'Moscow House' (Maskavas Nams) in central Rīga to Ukraine, the Saeima adopted changes to the law in a final reading.
The changes provide that after the sale of the Moscow House, the State Real Estate agency will transfer the funds obtained to the state budget, from whence they will be used for support measures for Ukrainian society.
As a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Saeima adopted a law on the transfer of Moscow House in Rīga to national ownership in January of this year. In turn, the government transferred the property to the Ministry of Finance so that the State Real Estate agency could then sell it at an auction.
Likewise, the Saeima today also supported other changes which will allow the donation of EUR 839,986 in fines collected from the joint-stock company "PrivatBank" to Ukraine.
