Peony wonders abloom at Latvian Nature museum

From 13 to 16 June, the Latvian National Museum of Natural History will host the Peony Exhibition "Peonies 2024", featuring around 200 varieties of the magnificent flowers, said Kristīna Soloha, the museum's representative.

The Peony Exhibition is taking the place of the previously planned Irises 2024 exhibition, which had to be canceled due to weather conditions.

Peony flowers are now in full bloom in many places and around 200 peony varieties will be represented. The exhibition will be organized for the second year in a row by Elita Zvingule, owner of the Ķesterciema Peonies Collection Garden, in cooperation with other peony growers from different parts of Latvia, so the range of flowers will be very rich.

Peonies can grow and flower undisturbed for many years, even decades, in the right conditions. In Latvia, peonies are an old and popular flower and have been found in almost every garden since the 19th century.

Recently, thanks to new, interesting varieties, people's interest in peonies has been growing, and the Peony Exhibition at the Natural History Museum is one of the most beautiful and anticipated flower exhibitions of the summer.

There will be no sale of plants during the exhibition, but everyone will have the opportunity to get advice from experienced peony growers and learn more about peony varieties, cultivation, selection, and choosing the right peony for their garden.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on June 13 at 12:00 in Riga, K. Barona Street 4, in the 2nd floor exhibition hall of the Latvian National Museum of Natural History.
