Normal weather will be resumed next week in Latvia

The weather will become cooler next week, however, that doesn't mean it will be cold – temperatures will instead be close to the climatic norm of the beginning of June, according to latest forecasts.

Since mid-May, the daily average temperature in Latvia has been from +4 to +8 degrees Celsius above the climatic norm. That unusually protracted hot spell is expected to come to an end over the weekend.

During the weekend of June 1 and June 2, the maximum temperature in the afternoons will be in the range of +21 C to + 26 C, while at night the air will cool down to from +11 C to +16 C. The days will be mostly sunny, but as with earlier in the week, storm clouds will form in places in the afternoons.

At the beginning of the new week, the temperature will drop and from Monday to Wednesday will mostly be within the range of +19 C to +24 C, but in the second half of the week it could get a bit colder.

Rain is expected in some parts of Latvia every day, but it will still be localized, so the drought will continue in many places. A warning of increased fire danger in forests remains in force throughout the country.

It should be remembered that last year at the beginning of June there were severe frosts in Latvia, with the temperature dropping to -2 C in some places. There was a severe drought throughout the country.

Long-term forecasts are not yet conclusive on how long the cool period will last, however, temperatures above the climatic norm are likely to prevail again in the second half of June.
