Gunta Līdaka, in charge of overseeing commercial television, has stepped down as board member at Latvia's media watchdog, the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP), Līdaka told the press April 12.

One woman's quest for freedom over flying the Latvian flag when she feels like it, not when the state mandates it, has come to fruition. On July 2, the Constitutional court of the Republic of Latvia ruled that the duty to fly the flag by privately-owned buildings cannot be enforced by fines, as it is unconstitutional.
