Four other anthologies are nominated for the category.
The selected anthology - No. 34 "Redrawing Stories from the Past”, No. 35 “Bonkers”, No. 36 “Plant Power” and No. 37 “Down Down Under" is the edition of "š!" series, compiling the works of Latvian and international comic artists four times a year since 2008.
In each edition, comics are created in one particular topic.
"The anthologies have gained international attention in the comic industry because of the experimental nature and courage of artists to find new and unusual ways of comic-making, breaking stereotypes and expanding the tradition," said the publisher.
Thirteen Latvian artists took part in the nominated editions.
The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards is an annual award for creative achievements in the comic industry in the US, also called the Oscar for the comic industry. Books that are available in the US are nominated. The award has been named in honor of the famous American comic author and graphic novel creator Will Eisner.
