Snow possible early next week in Latvia

It will not get warmer in Latvia anytime soon. There could even be snow next week, but more springlike weather will return in the last days of the month, according to forecasts.

During the weekend, precipitation is only expected on Saturday in Latgale and Sēlija. Air temperature Saturday night -5 C to 0 C, day +5 C to +10 C, cooler on the coast, while the night to Sunday will be a little warmer in eastern Latvia, where temperatures will not fall below zero. Temperatures will be +5 C to +10 C on Sunday afternoon, in the east of the country +11 C to +13 C.

An active cyclone will reach Latvia at the beginning of next week, due to which it will become cooler again, and there will be more rainfall and gusty winds.

Wet snow is expected on Monday and Tuesday, with a 2-3 centimeter thick layer of snow forming in places.

On Monday, northerly wind gusts in many places will rise to around 15 meters per second, coast around 20 meters per second.

With skies mostly overcast on Monday and Tuesday and gusty winds blowing, temperatures will be similar at night and day at 0 to +5 C.

From mid-next week, atmospheric circulation in Europe will change, cold air from Scandinavia will stop coming into our region, so temperatures will slowly but start rising, and the sky will clear more often.
