Event organizers can apply for aid related to Covid-19 losses

Organizers of cultural events are now able to apply for compensation for planned events that could not take place during state of emergency, said Jana Vērdiņa, representative of the State Culture Capital Foundation, January 22.

The compensation will cover 80% of the ticket costs.  

"The compensation for the value of tickets sold for events cancelled during the emergency [from 9 November 2020] is one of the support mechanisms created by the Ministry of Culture, which has been developed in close cooperation with the industry.

"It is essential that the compensation is intended for all public operators who have cancelled the measures and repaid the tickets to guests, regardless of the legal status of the organizer," said Minister of Culture Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance).

In order to obtain the compensation, the organizer of the cancelled measure will have to submit documents demonstrating the refund of money to customers.

Claims for compensation shall be accepted within the following time limits" from 22 January 2021 to 12 February 2021 at 12:00; from 8 March to 19 March 2021 at 12:00 and from 10 May to 21 May. The request must be submitted in the form of an electronic document signed with a secure electronic signature and certified with a time stamp, which must be drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the competition rules.
