Take note – story published 5 years ago

Our latest selection of the incredible sights and sounds of the XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebration provides a timely reminder that it is not only Latvians who live their lives in Latvia, but a whole range of people with other ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

They too are part of the Celebration and on July 3 gave a wonderfully varied concert in Rīga, which you can watch in full above. We hope you enjoy it, whether your language is Latvian, Latgalian, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Livonian or something else!

"The theme for this concert is a celebration of the many forms of friendship between Latvians and representatives of other ethnic groups Around 300 participants from various minority choirs and dance ensembles, vocalists and folk singer will participate. Video materials showing success stories from bilingual families will also be shown," a preview of the event at the beautiful Mikhail Chekhov Russian Theater in Rīga said.

A reminder: many of the events taking place in coming days can be watched live worldwide for free via the VISIEM LTV channel, so tune in to enter into the spirit of the Song and Dance Celebration.
