Several museums are gradually relaunching and inviting visitors to distance themselves from one another. On Tuesday, May 19, the door is opened by the National Museum of Arts and its departments Riga Stock Exchange and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, as well as the Museum of History.
The museums will currently comply with safety measures. Employees will be wearing protective gear, disinfectants will be made available. Visitors are not required to wear masks.
"The employees will have face shields and comply with two-meter distance. No more than 50 persons may enter the main building at the same time," said Māra Lāce.
Meanwhile, the Rundāles Palace Museum has been partially opened this week. Its French garden was already available for visitors over the weekend. The head of the museum, Laura Lūse, said that there had been queues but visitors had no issues complying with the two-meter distance.
A number of other museums throughout Latvia are also gradually resuming their work. Several museums of the Association of Memorial Museums welcome visitors starting Thursday, May 21, whereas others wait a week longer.
Museum representatives invite visitors to observe security measures, come in individually or within the family circle. The main condition is the 2-meter physical distance from other visitors and staff.
