Three for the Weekend: Autumn harvest

This weekend, undoubtedly, is significant for all Latvian citizens and eligible voters as the 14th parliamentary elections take place Saturday, October 1. When the ballot is cast, though, there is still a lot of time to enjoy oneself. On September 29, Latvians celebrate Miķeļi or Miķeļdiena – a harvest festival at the autumn solstice. Pay attention to the fruitful harvest this weekend!

Taste Latvia in Rīga

The final event of the "Novada Garša" (Regional Flavor) event cycle takes place October 1, 11:00, at the Hansa platform (Hanzas perons, Hanzas Street 16A, Rīga). Local producers from all regions of Latvia will come together for a grand harvest, food and craft market. Workshops, music, and other events will accompany the market. 

Potato fest

On October 1, 9:00 to 22:00, a Potato Festival is taking place at the renovated Āgenskalns Market (Nometņu Street 64, Rīga), with many varieties of potato to buy and different potato dishes to taste. Events and concerts will take throughout the day.

Vērmanes garden harvest market

If you wish to harvest arts, crafts and clothing more so than root vegetables, the Vērmanes Garden market on September 30 and October 1 will be right for you. You will also be able to have some hot lunch and drink on the premises.
