Sixty bartenders from 25 countries including Japan, South Korea, Chile, America, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, Poland and Russia will take part in the Flairmania bartending competition on 30 January, including eight women who will compete for the Flairmania Supergirl Prize, say organizers of the event.
"Flair bartending is a form of cocktail making that combines acrobatic and artistic elements with a bartender’s duties, using beverage bottles, glasses and other cocktail ingredients as part of the performance," they explain.
Latvia will be represented by the WFA Grand Slam 2018 World Champion and the winner of Olybet Flairmania 2019 Deniss Trifanovs from Daugavpils. Along with Deniss, bartenders Linards Grundmans and Romāns Kovoļonoks will also be taking up the challenge for Latvia.
“As a small Baltic country, we are immensely proud to host the world's most talented flair bartenders as they achieve a milestone in their professional lives for 10 years now. We are extremely pleased that we have managed to create such a prestigious competition and keep the bar so high, receiving twice as many applications from bartenders as there are spots in the competition – only the top 60 are given this exclusive opportunity to participate," said Raitis Akerblūms, President of the Latvian Bartenders Federation.
The competition will begin at 10:00 in the morning - which is pretty early to start on the cocktails - while the breathtaking finale with the top 10 bartenders will start at 21:00, where the best bartenders will compete for a total prize pool of 6,000 EUR.
The event is free for visitors throughout the day. Visitors have to be at least 18 to enter Olympic Voodoo Casino and will have to show an identity document – passport or ID card.
The general sponsor of Olybet Flairmania 2020 is Olympic Casino Latvia and the competition is organized in cooperation with the Latvian Bartenders Federation and the event is simultaneously a part of the World Flair Association’s organised Grand Slam rating competition among the world’s best flair bartenders.
