The TTT Rīga basketball club has drafted Women's National Basketball Association defensive player Marina Mabrey, replacing American point guard Linnae Harper, according to information from the club.

TTT Rīga Head Coach Mārtiņš Zībards highlights that she was one of the main players for Notre Dame University when their team won the NCAA Championship title in 2018.

"This summer Marina was able to prove herself on the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks and was praised by her teammates," Zībarts was cited by TTT Rīga. "This will be her first experience with European basketball, but we hope that Marina will be able to quickly become a part of our team and help improve our offensive organization."

Mabrey was born in 1996 and was drafted this summer to the WNBA team Los Angeles Sparks in the second round with the 19th overall pick. She played 31 games in the league averaging 4 points per game.

So far this season TTT Rīga has lost all four EuroLeague games. The next EuroLeague game for the Latvian champions will be a home game on November 27 against title holders UMMC Ekaterinburg from Russia.

Mabrey is also known for her T-shirts emblazoned “This is My Kitchen” printed over a basketball court. The idea for the shirt came from one of her tweets after her national championship win with Notre Dame University.

“To all the male women’s basketball haters, y’all can get in the kitchen and make us a sandwich now, thanks,” tweeted Mabrey.

She wore the shirt to an LA Sparks game to raise awareness about equality and respect issues faced by women in sports, and attracted messages of support from several NBA players including Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma and Dorell Wright.
