Visitors spent 242.4 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 19.9 % more than in March a year ago.
In March 2023, 73.3 thousand non-resident visitors were hosted at tourist accommodation establishments, which is 55.5 % more than in March 2022. The number of nights spent by non-residents has increased 51 % and comprised 135.3 thousand. In turn, the number of residents hosted, compared to March 2022, rose by 5.2 % and comprised 65 thousand. The number of nights spent by residents has dropped by 4.8 % and comprised 107 thousand.
In Q1 2023 the number of non-resident and resident visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 386.9 thousand, which is 40 % more than in Q1 2022. As compared to Q1 of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors has risen by 34.8 % and comprised 690.3 thousand nights. Visitors spent an average of 1.8 nights at tourist accommodation establishments.
In Q1 the number of non-resident visitors comprised 206.3 thousand, which is 82.6 % more than in Q1 of the previous year. The number of nights spent by them has risen by 72.4 % and comprised 383.5 thousand. The majority of non-resident visitors came from Lithuania (34.6 thousand), Estonia (29.3 thousand), United Kingdom (17.7 thousand), Germany (14.3 thousand), Finland (11.9 thousand), USA and Ukraine (8.7 thousand), Poland (8.4 thousand) and Sweden (6.7 thousand).
Most non-resident visitors were hosted in Riga – 79.2 %, Jūrmala – 4.9 %, Mārupe municipality – 4.7 %, Liepāja – 2.4 % and Valmiera municipality – 1.1 %.
Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (30.9 %), Jūrmala (15.4 %), Liepāja (7.7 %), Sigulda municipality (4.6 %), Cēsis municipality (4.4 %), Daugavpils (3.4 %) and Valmiera municipality (3 %).
