Construction costs ticked up in July

Data published by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) August 25 show that in July 2023, compared to July 2022, the level of construction costs in Latvia increased by 3.2 %.

Labor remuneration of workers increased by 6.9 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment by 5.3 % and prices of building materials rose by 0.8 %.

The month-on-month figures were also up. July 2023, compared to June, the level of construction costs rose by 0.5 %. Labor remuneration of workers increased by 1.0 %, maintenance and operational costs of machinery and equipment by 0.3 % and prices of building materials rose by 0.2 %.

"In July, the average level of construction costs was mostly affected by an increase in labor remuneration to workers carrying out finishing works (roofers, plasterers, sanitary technicians and others), as well as auxiliary workers of road building and electricians," said the CSB.
