Latvia slips from top to bottom among Baltic states on GDP growth

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) and released May 31 show that in the 1st quarter of 2019, compared to the 1st quarter of 2018, Latvia's gross domestic product (GDP) (seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data) increased by 3.0 %.

In the 1st quarter GDP at constant prices was EUR 6.8 billion.

However, compared to the previous quarter, GDP actually fell by 0.1 %, and in another move that may set economists' antennae twitching, Latvia recorded the weakest growth among the three Baltic states after recording the strongest growth in all four quarters of 2018.
