Non-resident fall in deposits offset by locals

In the first nine months of 2015, Latvia's banking sector earned €314.6m, according to the Financial and Capital Market Commission's operative information on the performance of the Latvian banking sector in September 2015.

14 Latvian banks and five foreign subsidiaries posted profit in the said period. Their total market share (in terms of assets) reached 94.1 percent.

The total volume of deposits in banks increased 1.7 percent or €374m. Residents' deposits increased 4.2 percent or €444m, while non-resident deposits decreased 0.6 percent or €70m.

The total amount of credit portfolio increased 0.3 percent, including resident corporate credit balance - 0.1 percent, and non-resident credit balance - 2.2 percent, resident household balance decreased 0.4 percent.
