Four European countries on Latvia's travel 'green list'

The updated list of epidemiological requirements for arrivals into Latvia from other countries was published on October 22.

The overwhelming majority of European countries are now deemed to have a "high public health threat", including Baltic neighbors Estonia and Lithuania which now have some of the highest Covid infection rates in Europe, along with Latvia itself which has the higest infection rate of all.

The classification system rates travel to each country as low (green), high (yellow), or very high risk (red). No country has yet been ranked as very high risk.

Only four countries make the green list. When entering Latvia from Italy, Spain, Malta, and the Vatican, travelers do not need to undergo tests or observe self-isolation, though people who have not been vaccinated or who have not recovered from Covid will have to take a test before traveling to Latvia.

The rest of Europe is on the "yellow list" of countries are those in which the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants exceeds 75.

The epidemiological requirements based upon the lists come into force at midnight, i.e. 00:00 on Saturday, October 23.
