More cargo was handled at Rīga Airport in December

Data published Jaunary 21 by the Central Statistical Bureau show that the volume of cargo and post loaded and unloaded at the Rīga International Airport has increased by 4.6%.

In December of the previous year passenger turnover at Riga International Airport has dropped by 90.1 %, as compared to December 2019. The total number of flights comprised 2 141, which is 67.8 % less. 

The total number of passenger arrivals and departures at Riga International Airport in December 2020 comprised 57 698 – 7.5 thousand more than in November 2020.

In December 2020, the volume of cargo and post unloaded comprised 1.4 thousand tonnes, which is 9.9 % more than in December 2019, but the volume of cargo loaded comprised 1.3 thousand tonnes – the volume loaded is almost the same as in December last year. As compared to November 2020, the volume of cargo and post unloaded has risen by 0.2 %, but of cargo loaded –by 33.8 %.

In 2020 the total number of passenger arrivals and departures at Riga International Airport comprised 2.01 million, which is 74.2 % less than in 2019. During this period 23.2 thousand tonnes of cargo was loaded and unloaded – a drop of 14.8 %.
