Yellow warning issued as Latvia braces for heatwave

On Friday the weather will become hotter with temperatures reaching +28C, forecasts say.

Friday will be sunny with some clouds expected and rain possible in the eastern reaches of the country, but overall there'll be little rainfall.

Temperatures will range from +23..+28C with a high of +27C expected in Rīga.

But the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a yellow warning for this weekend. The heatwave is to last until Monday and temperatures could plunge shortly thereafter.
