On Wednesday morning the website was still accessible.
The attention of the NEPLP has been drawn by the governing authorities of another state that the content distributed on this website poses a threat to the national security of Latvia, as well as to public order and security.
The NEPLP has concluded that the website is used, for example, to disseminate propaganda, war propaganda, ideas and principles of communism, and the content published therein threatens national security.
Similarly, the website spreads distorted and false information containing signs of efforts to create intolerance among representatives of different social groups, to spread messages corresponding to Russia's foreign political interests and Communist ideology, and to justify the activities of the Soviet army during World War II in Latvia.
Such information in Latvia's informative room may create a false impression of events around the world, negatively affect the co-existence of different groups of society and create a threat to the Latvian State security, NEPLP indicates in the decision.
NEPLP said it has denied access to the domain name and Internet protocol address of this website, as well as duplicate mirrors. To inform the visitors why the website is no longer available, its users will automatically be directed to the information message created by the NEPLP on the “nelegalssaturs.lv” site.
