Ukraine's First Lady to visit Latvia

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska will visit in Latvia. She will participate in the international conference “Russia's War on Children”, as well as meet with Latvian officials and representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora.

On Wednesday, Zelenska is scheduled to meet with President Edgars Rinkēvičs and discuss support for Ukraine and its people, the human rights situation in Ukraine, as well as the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia. 

Zelenska will then meet with Prime Minister Evika Siliņa. During the meeting, it is planned to discuss the humanitarian and other support of Latvia to the Ukrainian people and the situation regarding Russian war crimes against Ukrainian civilians.

On Thursday, February 1, Rinkēvičs and Zelenska will jointly open the international conference “Russia's War on Children”, which will discuss Russia's prosecution of illegal child deportations from temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine, as well as ways to facilitate the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia.

Zelenska's meeting with representatives of Latvian non-governmental organizations, which provide support to Ukraine, Ukrainian diaspora representatives, and Ukrainian refugees who have taken refuge in Latvia, is also planned as part of the visit.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Latvia on January 11.
