Chancellery chief to step down

Mārtiņš Krieviņš, the head of the State Chancellery has stepped down "on a mutual agreement", effective March 21, said PM Māris Kučinskis' press secretary Andrejs Vaivars on Monday.

No further comment was given as to why Krieviņš is leaving the post.

Inese Gailīte, head of the legal department at the chancellery, will serve as the acting head of the state body.

Krieviņš assumed the post in August 2015. He had previously worked at the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development and state institutions, including the State Chancellery.
