The Constitution Protection Bureau (SAB) Centre for the Documentation of the Consequences of Totalitarianism has identified seven names of the 14th Saeima deputy candidates in the files of the National Security Committee (KGB), LETA reported on August 10.

In total, the center has checked the compliance of 1832 deputy candidates with the norms of the Saeima election law.

This Law stipulates that persons who are employees of foreign State security services, intelligence services or counter-intelligence services, or persons who have been employees of the State of the USSR, Latvian PSR State security service, intelligence service or counter-intelligence service may not be elected to the Saeima.

At the same time, the Law shall not prevent persons from standing as candidates when they may have cooperated with the security services of the USSR, Latvian PSR or foreign state, intelligence services, or counterintelligence services as external employees, agents, residents, or conspirative apartment holders of these services, if they have not been establishment employees of these services.
