Welfare Minister Petraviča lays down Saeima deputy mandate

Minister for Welfare Ramona Petraviča (KPV LV) has taken a decision to lay down the Saeima deputy mandate for the term of minister's office, said the Minister's advisor on communications Jānis Zars January 28.

“This has never been a matter of ambition, but I have always stood for the stability of the party and the faction, because it also affects the work of ministers in government. As a Member, I have been better able to defend the work of my industry, ministry, government and other ministers,” said Petraviča.

Her decision is reportedly not related to a previous request of the party KPV LV to assess the ability of the Minister to fulfil the duties of Saeima deputy.

The Minister already considered such a decision in December last year, according to Latvian Television.
