Take note – story published 1 year ago

The prosecutor's office has sent to court a criminal case against pro-Kremlin activist Vladimirs Lindermans on the justification of Russia's war in Ukraine, as well as on causing hatred and intolerance among different nationalities in Latvian society, the prosecutor's office said on February 10.

Without mentioning the identity of the accused, the prosecutor's office said that, according to the indictment of last summer, the accused purposefully and systematically circulated messages corresponding to the Kremlin's interests online, expressing support for Russian military power, and praise for Russia. The accused distributed this kind of content for several months.

In addition, the accused also circulated information on the Internet about content aimed at provoking hatred and intolerance between groups of different nationalities, in particular Latvians, Russians, and Ukrainians.

The case had come to the prosecutor's office in October last year, when the State Security Service (VDD) called for criminal prosecution against pro-Kremlin activist Vladimirs Lindermans.

This week, February 8, the Prosecutor of the Criminal Justice Department of the Prosecutor General's Office sent this criminal case to the Riga City Court.
