From November 6 to 14, in the parishes of Dzērbene, Skujene, Veselava and Vaive in Cēsis district, as well as in the territories of Launkalne, Branti and Rauna parishes in Smiltene district, as part of the Junior Instructor Course, tactical exercises of the National Armed Forces (NBS) Instructor School cadets will be taking place.

The junior instructor's course involves tactical exercises which improve not only theoretical knowledge and practical skills, but also develop leadership skills, said the NBS.

The junior instructor course is the first career course of the instructor staff, upon successful completion of which soldiers have the right to receive the rank of corporal and serve as junior instructors. The purpose of the course is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills so that the soldier can independently train and command a sub-unit, or join the unit in the performance of a common task, performing tactical tasks in training and performing combat tasks.

Training tasks will be carried out in areas agreed with JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" (Latvian state forests). Members of the public are advised that they might see the movement of soldiers and vehicles on public roads and in the forests during both day and night.

Training munitions and battle simulators will be used, which make noise but do not threaten people's health.

The National Armed Forces call on the residents to behave with understanding towards the training period, which is aimed at strengthening the state's defense capabilities.
