Latvia participating at major defense trade show in France

On Monday, June 17, Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds is visiting France on a working visit to participate in the opening event of the Latvian national stand of the Latvian Security and Defense Industries Federation (DAIF) at the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition.

Eurosatory is the largest international land and air-land defense and security exhibition, where the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with DAIF Latvija will demonstrate the product offers of 12 Latvian defense industry companies in the national pavilion.

"The development of the Latvian military industry is one of my priorities. We must actively strengthen the international contacts and practical cooperation of Latvian businessmen – entering international supply chains, participation in European Defense Fund projects and other European Union military industry initiatives are part of the priorities of the emerging Latvian Defense Industry Strategy. For the Latvian military industry, representation with national stands at such international exhibitions can be a strong starting point," said Sprūds ahead of the event.

Also during the exhibition, the Minister of Defense will participate in a panel discussion "Age of UAVs: Shaping Tactics and Militaries", where he will discuss issues related to the growing influence and capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles on the battlefield.

The drone coalition initiated by Latvia – and which France and Italy joined last week – provides unique experience and opportunities for both technology development and close international cooperation in strengthening the military industry at the international level.

Spruds will also meet with representatives of various military industry companies, as well as with the French Ministry of Defense. The development of the defense industry is on the agenda of all Allied countries, and joint international cooperation projects are the key to faster and more efficient development of the industry on an international scale.

Eurosatory is organized every two years in Paris, France. In 2022, the exhibition gathered more than 1,700 participants and approximately 62,000 visitors from 150 countries. The list of Latvian participants is available here.
