Latvian troops demonstrate 'Combined Resolve' in Germany

Around 100 Latvian soldiers are currently in Germany taking part in the US Army's "combined Resolve XII" international military training exercises, the Ministry of Defense said August 12.

Combined Resolve XII is taking place from 8 to 27 August in Hohenfels and Grafenwoehr, Germany, with and in addition to the troops, 25 CVR (T) vehicles and other combat support equipment are in situ from the Land Force Mechanized Infantry Brigade 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion. 

"The international military exercise aims to promote regional stability and security, improving cooperation and interoperability of allies and partners," the ministry said in a release.

Over 5,000 participants from 21 countries participate in Combined Resolve. The exercise is organized twice a year with major U.S. units participating in the exercise including the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, and 1st Combat Aviation Brigade and the 310th Tactical Psychological Operations Company.

Participating countries include Armenia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Kosovo, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States, according to information from the US Army.
