Students invited to apply to eco-innovation course

The ESI Student Innovation program has issued an invitation to students to apply for an educational course titled “Eco-Innovation, Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Management”, part of the ESI Student Innovation Program of the Stockholm School of Economics in Rīga.

The one-month course on eco-innovations will start on September 18th, 2023 and registration is open until August 17th. Students from all universities in Latvia can apply.

The course “Eco-Innovation, Social Responsibility and Sustainable Management” will be taught by Xavier Landes (Stockholm School of Economics in Riga), Daiga Brakmane (University of Latvia), Maija Krastina (Zero Waste Latvia), Jana Simanovska (Ecodesign Competence Centre, Vidzemes University of Applied Sciences).
The course is open to all students from partner universities with no prerequisites for entry.

Students from non-partner universities must provide proof that attending the program will not interfere with their regular studies. Non-students must have attained at least EQF Level 4 qualification. By the completion of the course, the students will obtain 3 ECTS.

"The goal is to prepare students for a changing world by supporting their creativity and entrepreneurship skills in a direction conducive to sustainable development. Therefore, this course is designed to give an overview of contemporary environmental and sustainability challenges and prepare future eco-innovators. Students will be introduced to essential areas and topics (including eco-design, supply chain management, regulation, and climate change) and undergo practical teamwork where they will formulate an environmental problem, identify an entrepreneurial opportunity, and propose a product/service that addresses this problem," says advance material.

Students from SSE Riga and those living in Riga will have to be physically present at the lectures and commit to teamwork. Missing more than two lectures is a no-no, too. Those who are not from SSE Riga and who live outside Riga can attend online while committing to being present for the teamwork sessions. But they need to inform the course director first.

Applicants will need to fill in an online application questionnaire.

To participate in the course, students must register by August 17th, 2023. The maximum number of students is 50. More detailed information can be found in the course outline and course schedule.
