Donations sought to help low-income pupils

School bags, stationery items, exercise books, notebooks and sketchbooks are currently being actively donated. School clothes, sports shoes, lunch boxes and sports bottles are still on the list of most needed items. The pharmacy chain Euroaptieka has also joined the charity campaign by donating vitamin C for children.

The charity campaign in "Akropole" shopping malls will end on 28 August when charity organization Ziedot.lv will hand over all donated items and proceeds to those families who cannot provide their children with school items due to financial reasons, and will make sure that everything necessary will reach the recipients right before the school year. Anyone can bring their donations to the shopping centres AKROPOLE Alfa (Brīvības gatve 257) or AKROPOLE Rīga (Maskavas iela 372) by leaving them at designated charity boxes with the caption ”Let’s help prepare for school together!”.

Special charity boxes are located in the event area of AKROPOLE Riga between entrances A and F, as well as in AKROPOLE Alfa – next to the Rimi entrance. Donations can be delivered every day during the opening hours of both shopping centres.

For the third year the charity campaign is organised by AKROPOLE shopping centres together with partners – the parents' organisation ”Mammām un tētiem”, but this year with Ziedot.lv has also joined the partnership. The purpose of the charity campaign is to help pupils and their families better prepare for the start of the new school year.

Families can be supported also financially, by donating via bank transfer at www.ziedot.lv, section ”Let’s help prepare for school together!”. The donation is voluntary and it will also be possible to donate online after 28 August.
