From Monday, January 6, Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sports Department (RD IKSD) is inviting residents of the Latvian capital to apply for free Latvian language courses.

Application information, including a contact phone and the location of the nearest educational institution, is available at: www.integracija.riga.lv

Anyone with a declared place of residence in Riga will be able to choose a language training center from the list and apply directly to the course leaders. RD IKSD itself does not get involved with course allocation.

The competition “Organization and Implementation of Latvian Language Courses for Riga City Citizens” is organized within the framework of the Society Integration Program and its purpose is to financially support projects that provide adult residents of Riga with necessary language skills. Places will be provided free of charge, but interested parties are advised to apply early as in the past they have been heavily over-subscribed.

Courses are offered with both English and Russian as the intermediary language.
