Special day for students and teachers at Latvian seat of government

March 27 saw teachers and pupils alike acknowledged at a special ceremony at the Cabinet building in central Rīga, with the awarding of special diplomas for outstanding performances in the "Euroskills 2018" international academic Olympiads.

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš was on hand to present the diplomas and thank participants for their efforts

"I am proud along with parents and teachers. Carry on to your goals, get a good education so you can get involved in the development of our country in the future! ” the PM said.

In total, in the year 2018, 18 young students became Olympiad laureates mathematics and science subjects. In addition in the International Vocational Skills Competition "EuroSkills 2018" 7 Professionals from Vocational Educational Institutions won medals and high achievements in the fields of fashion technology, shop window design, vehicle maintenance, information and communication technology and web development, in the competition involving all 28 European Union countries.
