Geographic location of the year in Latvia is Gūdu Cliffs

Geologists have chosen the Gūdu Cliffs as the geo-location of the year 2024, the University of Latvia (LU) announced on January 12.

Gūdu Cliffs are a sandstone formation on the River Gauja that looks like the front of a ship extending into the water.

It is one of the largest Devon-period sandstone outcrops in Latvia.

You can see the location of the Gūdu Cliffs here.

It is planned that an educational event will take place in September dedicated to the cliffs as the Latvian geo-location of the year.
