On Tuesday, June 30, several streets were flooded in Rīga following heavy rainfall and public transport traffic was delayed, news agency LETA reported on June 30.

Due to the heavy rain, streets are flooded in several Riga neighborhoods, mostly on Brīvības Street from Jugla to the center, and Ropažu Street from shopping mall Alfa to Džutas Street. Mežciems is also flooded, reported LETA.

The same situation is also extant in the center of Riga, the flooded areas include Barona Street, Tērbatas Street, Bruņinieku Street, Valdemāra Street, Raiņa Boulevard, Čaka Street and others.

Riga City Council Transport Department spokeswoman Ilze Dimante told Latvian Radio that 12 units have been working since 4 in the morning to remove excess rainwater.

Due to the flooding, public transport experienced delays, especially around 8-9 in the morning, when traffic was at its heaviest, but by mid-morning the situation had improved with rainfall becoming much lighter.
