The highest daily total so far remains December 31, when 1,861 new infections were confirmed.
The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at 52,982.
Of 12,224 tests carried out in the last 24 hours, 7.8% were positive, down on the 10.2% rate the previous day, when a similar number of tests were carried out.

Eleven more deaths were also confirmed. Of those, one victim was aged 40-45 years, two were aged 60-75 and eight were aged 80-90.
In total 916 people have now died in Latvia as a result of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
The National Health Service (NVD) said 1,482 people received the Covid-19 vaccine during the previous 24 hours, taking the total number so far to 11,417.

Meanwhile in Lithuania 1,371 new cases of Covid-19 and 29 deaths were recorded Thursday, and in Estonia 632 cases and 10 deaths were recorded.

Use of nose and mouth coverings is compulsory in all public places indoors, including workplaces, and there are restrictions on what goods can be bought from stores. Physical distancing and frequent hand washing and sanitary cleaning habits are encouraged.
The current state of emegency runs until February 7 and the current "quiet period" restrictions regarding Covid-19 until January 25.

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv. From January 15 arrivals will also need to show a negative Covid-19 test from a maximum 72 hours before arrival or proof of vaccination.
