Latvia to have a central vaccination bureau

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts said at a press conference January 12 that government has supported creation of a centralized vaccination bureau.

Pavļuts said that the main goal of this is to ensure a smooth mass vaccination on a national level. This means that through this bureau, residents would have the opportunity to voluntarily sign up for vaccines.

These voluntary requests would then be sorted in accordance with priority queues: seniors, those with chronic illnesses, and so on.

"We will hire people who work only for this project. Project managers, communication experts, IT experts, who could carry this out at the speed, level and with as many unknown aspects as we have now," said Pavļuts.

Health Ministry hopes that the bureau might start working already next week.
