A total of 32,752 persons were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia last week, averaging 4,679 people per day. This is one of the lowest numbers since March, according to data compiled by the National Health Service (NVD), LETA reported August 16.

A lower number of vaccinated people was experienced only during Midsummer week when 31,781 people got the jab.

Last week, a total of 17,138 people received the first dose of the vaccine, 13,228 got the second, while a further 2,386 people were vaccinated with a vaccine produced by a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson (J & J) that needed only one dose. This is the highest number of first doses received since the second half of June.

Overall, the pace of vaccination in Latvia continues to fall, significantly behind the record levels reached in May, when more than 110,000 people were vaccinated a week. This trend is seen almost throughout the summer.

720,193 people or 38.15% of the population have already completed their vaccination course. 42.99% of the population have got the first jab.
