People vaccinated abroad can get a Covid certificate in Latvia

Take note – story published 3 years and 3 months ago

People who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 abroad will still be able to get a Covid-19 certificate in Latvia. The government decided on the system to do it June 22.

To obtain a certificate, people will be able to submit a document confirming vaccination against Covid-19 to any of the five branches of the National Health Service (NVD) (list and contact information here). The entering of technical data into the e-health system will be performed by the State blood donor center.

In order to make it technically possible for people who had the right to vaccinate in Latvia but who vaccinated abroad to generate a digital vaccination certificate, the information regarding the said fact of vaccination must be entered in the e-health system, and it must be verified that the document is authentic and contains all the necessary information.

As reported in our other story, if a foreign person is staying, working in Latvia, and has been vaccinated here, he or she must turn to the medical treatment institution where vaccination took place. That authority must create the necessary certificate for the person and issue it.

On the website covid19sertifikats.lv everyone with access to the State authentication system can download their certificate. Three types are currently available: one attesting to the fact of vaccination, the second shows the laboratory test result, and the third confirms that the person has had Covid-19. Each certificate contains a unique QR code.
