Self-isolation can be shortened for COVID-19 contact persons in Latvia

Take note – story published 3 years ago

The Disease Prevention and Control Center of Latvia (SPKC) said September 29 that the time of self-isolation for contact persons has been reduced from 14 to 10 days if the COVID-19 test is negative.

According to Health Ministry, the time to spend in self-isolation after being in contact with a COVID-19 positive person  is 14 days. However, there is now an opportunity to reduce this time to ten.

Persons in self-isolation  can now request a COVID-19 test at home on  the tenth day, and if it comes back negative, stop self-isolation with a doctor's notice. A doctor's notice for these people is necessary in any case, be it after 14 or 10 days.

The Ministry reminded that health must be observed, as being in close contact has a high risk of infection.
