Currently, young people aged 12 to 17 are the most active part of society vaccinating against Covid-19, according to National Health Service's vaccination project department representative Inga Vasiļjeva, Latvian Radio reported August 8.

The upward trend has been observed since mid-July.

Inga Vasiļjeva told Latvian Radio that at least 17% of young people aged between 12 and 15 and at least 33% of young people aged between 16 and 17 have received the first shot of the vaccine against Covid-19.

The highest vaccination proportion among 12 to 15-year-olds is the municipalities of Ķekava and Ādaži (26%), as well as in Mārupe (30%). More than half of the youth aged 16-17 are vaccinated in Mārupe and Ādaži. The lowest proportion of vaccinated people in this age group is in the municipalities of Rēzekne, Ludza, Preiļi and Līvāni.

In Rīga, 22% of young people aged 12-15 and nearly 40% of people aged 16-17 have received their first shot.
