Twenty Covid-19 patients died last night at Riga East Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS), which is a record number in the hospital in one day, Imants Paeglis, Chairman of the hospital, confirmed to Latvian Television October 28.

The total Thursday data of Covid patients and deaths is yet to be released.

Among the 20 dead Covid-19 sufferers at RAKUS, one was 40 years old, another 50 years old.

At RAKUS, which is the biggest 'Covid-hospital' in Latvia, emergency unit beds have now been placed in the garage where Emergency Medical Service vehicles were parked previously. A new department is also being created that will allow patients to start treatment immediately.

This week, the alarm about Covid-19 mortality was also raised by Daugavpils Regional Hospital, where six to ten Covid-19 patients, mostly seniors, die each day, according to the head of the hospital.
