Vaccination currently at slowest pace since spring in Latvia

This week, vaccination against Covid-19 in Latvia has hit the slowest pace this summer, LETA reported August 25.

In the first two weekdays, around 4,300 people were vaccinated daily, even fewer than in the Midsummer week when on average around 4,500 people were vaccinated daily.

The single-day record in Latvia was hit on May 28, when around 24,700 people received their jabs.

On Tuesday, August 24, 4,188 people received jabs against Covid-19, including 2,274 people getting the first jab and 1,914 people getting the second jab, and 293 people getting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine requiring only one dose.

Around 730,000, or around 44.15% of the population over 12 years of age have got at least the first jab. Around 632,000 people have received the second dose, while a further number of around 109,000 people have received Johnson & Johnson vaccines requiring only one dose, with a total of 44.8% of the population over 12 years of age having completed the vaccination process.
