Driver's licence now valid as identification with Covid certificate in Latvia

The Covid-19 certificate will also be able to be presented together with the driver's license, student ID or pensioner's ID, the Saeima decided December 16.

Until now, it has been stipulated that, when presenting a Covid-19 certificate, the person has an obligation to present a personal identification document – a passport or ID card. The proposed amendment states that the changes would remove public concerns about the control of the presentation of a Covid-19 certificate by providing that other documents may also be used to identify the holder of the certificate.

The decision was unanimous. 74 members voted in favor of it.
