So far more than a million electronic certificates relating to Covid-19 status have been created at the edicated website covid19sertifikats.lv, the National Health Service (NVD) said July 28.

More than 498,000 Latvians have received one or more certificates for vaccination, laboratory test results or Covid-19 disease.

A breakdown of the uses made of digital certification so far show:

  • More than 848,000 certificates of vaccination;
  • 117,000 laboratory test result certificates;
  • More 45,000 confirmations of overcoming Covid-19 disease.

Also some 22,000 certificates were issued at Rīga municipal centers, information centers of other large cities and state unified customer service centers. This option is available to people who do not have Internet access, skills or who for some other reason cannot create a certificate on the website themselves.

The use of digital Covid-19 certificates in Latvia started from June 1, 2021.

Residents can create Covid-19 certificates on the website covid19sertifikats.lv by connecting via one of the secure access routes such as internet banking or e-Signature. Certificates can be downloaded to smart devices or printed to paper.

The website is available in Latvian, Russian and English.

Those who do not use the Internet or cannot authenticate on the website can apply for a certificate at one of the state and municipal single customer service centers

As previously reported by LSM, Latvia is also compliant with the uniform format of the European Union digital certificate, including the inclusion of a unique QR code in each certificate, which is signed with a secure virtual key. At present, the scanning and reading of QR codes is provided by the countries that have joined the European Union's single digital gateway. Information on these countries is available at https://reopen.europa.eu/en.
