Porzingis makes a respectable NBA All-Stars bid

Despite that even the Latvian President voted for New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis, the Latvian star rookie came in 6th in the Eastern Conference frontcourts voting, meaning he won't become an All-Star just yet, reported LSM's Latvian-language service Friday.

A total of 473,579 votes were cast in his favor.

Porziņģis fell almost 100,000 votes short to get a spot in the starting lineup, behind his teammate Carmelo Anthony who earned 567,348 votes and secured his spot grabbing 3rd place among Eastern conference frontcourts.

It's expected however that Porziņģis will be able to participate in the rookie game against a team composed of 2nd-year players. He could also participate in the All-Stars game if named a substitute.

The All-Stars game will take place February 14 in Toronto. The starters this year will be:

Eastern Conference

Carmelo Anthony, New York
Paul George, Indiana
LeBron James, Cleveland
Kyle Lowry, Toronto
Dwyane Wade, Miami

Western Conference

Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers
Stephen Curry, Golden State
Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City
Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio
Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City
