The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) explained that the portal providers – the State Regional Development Agency – carried out planned site renewal work over the weekend. They were scheduled to be completed by Monday morning. However, due to technical difficulties, the work took longer than originally planned, so the page was not available on Monday.
"Latvija.lv is undergoing a major reshuffle right now. The portal had not been upgraded visually or technologically for more than 10 years. Given the changes in technological platforms, the change took a considerable amount of time, even more time than was originally planned. But this operation was necessary," said Uģis Bisenieks, director of the State Administration Development Agency.
The address of the portal is also changed to latvija.gov.lv.
The portal should now be fully operational. However, users who have experienced shortcomings or wish to share recommendations can report this by tagging the profile of the portal on Twitter.
Renewal work will continue throughout the year, and similar breaks are likely to continue. Therefore, users who want to use one of the portal services are encouraged to do them in a timely manner and not leave things to the last minute.
