Utility regulator approves new tariffs come August

Take note – story published 7 years ago

After a proposal by the "Sadales Tīkls" electricity distributor, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission - in effect the country's utility watchdog - on Thursday approved including a fixed component in electricity prices starting August 1.

The new tariffs will include a maintenance fee for being on the grid, plus a fee for electricity consumption.

The regulator said the new system will be rolled so that the more than 100,000 power consumers using little to no electricity would share the cost of power grid maintenance.
