Rainy weekend, slightly sunnier weather next week

According to the latest forecast from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center, the weekend will be a cloudy one, but next week promises some brighter prospects.

The sky will be cloudy on Friday and it will rain in most parts of the country, with thunderstorms amd heavy rain in some places. A slow to moderate east to southeast wind will dominate, which could become gusty during storms. During the day, the air will warm up to +13 Celsius to +18 C, while in Latgale and coastal areas the thermometer bar will not exceed + 13 C.

On Saturday , the sky will be completely covered with a thick blanket of cloud, but on Sunday afternoon the sky will clear up from time to time. With the center of a small cyclone above the territory of Latvia, rain will continue in many places over the weekend as well, and the precipitation will gradually ease only on Sunday.

Weekend daytime air temperatures are expected to be only + 9 C to + 14 C.

The new working week will start with dry weather, and the sun will shine more often. As the sky becomes clearer, the air temperature at night could drop as low as + 5 C, while during the day the maximum air temperature is expected to be similar to this week in the + 13 C to + 18 C range.

Current forecasts suggest that Wednesday may again bring rain. While the air is gradually getting warmer, there's still no real sign of summertime temperatures.
