Thunderstorms to pass Latvia today

If you were in Riga last night, chances are you were woken up by lightning bolts.

More than 60,000 lightning blasts were recorded across the Baltics from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 9 a.m. Wednesday, reports LSM's weather man Toms Bricis. 

While sizable hailstones several centimeters in diameter fell over the town of Cesvaine.

Several thousand households were left without electricity due to power outages. On the flip side, many beautiful pictures were taken.

Wednesday will be rather rainy with thunderstorms expected in the eastern regions. Temperatures of +20..+25C are expected throughout the country except in Latgale where they may reach +26..+29C.
