Take note – story published 3 years ago

June may have worked hard to convince us of its tropical credentials with high temperatures, thunderstorms and plenty of sunshine, but July is likely to take a lower-key approach to the continuation of summer, according to the latest forecasts.

LSM weather guru Toms Bricis says this week the weather in Latvia will get cooler and it will rain more often, especially on Tuesday, when rain in the east of the country will be prolonged.

During the working week maximum air temperatures will be in the range of +17 Celsius to + 23 C during the day and +11 C to + 17 C at night, though some nights might even dip slightly below +10 C.

Tuesday's rain will be very heavy in parts of Vidzeme and Latgale and may lead to localized flooding and standing water on roads, so motorists are advised to drive with caution.

Nexxt weekend the weather should improve again. It will not rain and it will get warmer, reaching from +22 C to +27 C on Sunday.

The prevailing winds this week will be westerly and southwesterly and often will be gusty from Tuesday to Thursday.
